Most holidays here are reserved for family. Memorial holiday is one of them. Sure, it's a way to salute the veterans who sacrificed their lives for our country but it has now evolved into something totally family-oriented.
I don't mind it. It's a way to spend time with your loved ones. But I stopped doing that a long time ago.
Now, Memorial Weekend marks our soft-opening for summer. We have made it a tradition to go to the beach (most of the time we go to Rehoboth Beach, DE), lay out for a couple of hours, go back to the hotel to take a shower and eat out. After that, it's one night of dancing and partying. Then, we wake up early the next day to go to the outlets and do some credit card damage while shopping.
My favorite part of the whole weekend?

The weather is finally cooperating. After days of rain here on the east coast, we are finally getting the warm weather that will allow for shorts and tank tops.
It was the perfect day to run around doing errands as well. I went to the nursery around the corner from my house and bought a few plants to get started in my garden.
I bought a couple of Boston ferns, a red geranium, and a full flat tray of impatiens. I just finished planting and dang, it looks nice. I know - it sounds a bit gay but I love gardening. It's hard for me to grow anything else other than those types that I just bought. Sometimes, I can even kill cactus.

I am going to admit it. I watch American Idol. There. I said it.
Yes! I am a fan of Jessica Sanchez. And if you haven't heard of her yet, you will eventually do when the 11th season of American Idol comes to a close.
I rarely ask but if you could help vote for her every week, I would really appreciate it. Voting starts at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time. - Watch American Idol on Fox - Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8/7c.

Is the economy about to take off any time soon?! Sheez!!
I have been wanting to start looking for a job in another field but this slow economy is keeping me at the job that I'm in. I don't hate my job. I just hate doing it.
The pay is good. I don't do much work. But that's the problem!
If I change my career now, what should I go for?

It's not every day that Nike gives you a wad of cash and tells you to make a video about what it means to "make it count". While most ad men would sit in an office scratching their head wondering how to give the good ol' swoosh a fresh new look, YouTube film maker Casey Neistat spent the money on an exhilarating whirlwind trip around the world. This may at first come off as a case of overindulgence, but Neistat's four-and-a-half-minute video reminds us just how rich, strange, scary and spectacular the world is, and how important it is to seize all its glory without hesitation. - Source
